Extending its downward trend, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed lower on Monday, June 15, the first trading day of the week. The benchmark index fell 0.45 percent, or 12.26 points, to close at 2,711.76.
The index had declined 0.14 percent last Friday and 0.29 percent on Thursday. A 0.09 percent gain the previous day had briefly ended a four-day losing streak.
A total of 10,739,998 shares were traded through 51,702 transactions on Monday. Daily turnover rose to Rs 4.41 billion, compared to Rs 4.34 billion in the previous session.
All major market indicators ended in the negative. The Sensitive Index fell 0.20 percent, the Float Index declined 0.30 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index slipped 0.16 percent.
Market breadth remained negative, with 188 stocks declining, 73 advancing, and 12 remaining unchanged.
Among individual stocks, Sopan Pharmaceuticals Limited (SOPL) and Appolo Hydropower Limited (APHL) led the gainers, rising 14.99 percent each. On the losing side, Green Development Bank Ltd. (GRDBL) recorded the steepest decline, falling 7.94 percent.
In terms of turnover, Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd led the market with Rs 388.50 million. It was followed by the 10.25 percent NBBL Debenture 2085 (NBBD2085) and Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited (LSL).
Out of 13 sectoral indices, only the Manufacturing and Processing index ended in the green, rising 0.11 percent. The Others index recorded the steepest fall, declining 1.82 percent, followed by the Trading index, which dropped 1.42 percent.
Total market capitalisation fell to Rs 4,633.58 billion from Rs 4,654.55 billion at the end of the previous day’s trade.
