The committee formed to recommend candidates for the post of chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) on Tuesday, May 19, shortlisted four candidates for the position.
The committee had called for applications on April 28. According to the committee, the shortlisted candidates — Dr Navaraj Adhikari, Binaydev Acharya, Mukunda Kumar Chhetri and Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta — were selected from among 47 applicants. They have been invited for separate interviews scheduled for Friday, May 22, at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.
Following the interviews, the committee will recommend three names to the government for appointment.
The post has remained vacant since April 17, when then-chairperson Santosh Narayan Shrestha resigned. He had served around 17 months of a four-year term after being appointed on November 25, 2024.
The new appointment will be made for the remainder of the term.
Under the Securities Act, 2063, candidates must hold at least a master’s degree from a recognised university and have a minimum of seven years’ experience in areas such as securities market management, capital market development, economics, finance, commerce, management or law.
The law also requires candidates to be at least 35 years old and not older than 65.
