China to provide Rs 11 billion for Ring Road expansion project

The Chinese government will provide Rs 11 billion in grant assistance for the second phase of the Ring Road Expansion project.

 According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development, the cooperation agreement was signed on Wednesday, April 29 at the ministry by Minister Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming.

Under the agreement, the Ring Road will be expanded from Kalanki to Basundhara. The first phase of the project covered the stretch from Koteshwor to Kalanki. 

Speaking at the signing, Minister Lamsal said the government would ensure smooth implementation and address any issues promptly. He added that improving north–south road connectivity remains a priority and expressed hope for increased Chinese investment in Nepal’s infrastructure.

Zhang said Chinese investors are interested in Nepal and would invest if a favourable business environment is ensured.
