The government is set to shift to a semi-monthly salary payment system for civil servants, replacing the current once-a-month disbursement.

The Budget and Programme Division of the Ministry of Finance has written to the Financial Comptroller General Office, instructing it to make the necessary arrangements to implement the new system. In a letter dated April 17, Joint Secretary Dr Suman Dahal directed the office to prepare for twice-monthly salary distribution in line with a ministerial decision taken the same day.

According to the ministry, the new arrangement will be implemented gradually across government bodies, including committees, commissions, and public enterprises.
