The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has fixed the minimum support price for wheat and spring paddy.

The ministry fixed the prices on Friday following a directive from Minister Gita Chaudhary.

According to the ministry, the minimum support price for the current fiscal year has been set at Rs 2,856.49 per quintal for wheat and Rs 3,945 per quintal for spring paddy.

The price for spring paddy applies to grain with 18 percent moisture content. For paddy with moisture exceeding 18 percent, the weight will be reduced at the rate of 1.2 kilogram per quintal to determine the price.

Compared to last year, the price of wheat has increased by Rs 77.62 per quintal, while spring paddy has risen by Rs 55.08 per quintal. In the previous fiscal year, the minimum support price for wheat was Rs 3,867.38 per quintal and for spring paddy Rs 2,800.69 per quintal.
